Mortal Kombat X Game Review
Whether you are a Mortal Kombat fan or you’ve never played the game before, you can’t afford to miss out on this title. With an exciting story mode, multiple characters, and a wide variety of fighting moves, you won’t be disappointed. In fact, you might find yourself asking yourself why you haven’t bought the game yet.
Character selection screen
Unlike other games which only show you one character, Mortal Kombat X allows you to choose from a full roster of 25 playable fighters. The game also allows for DLC packs, which will add new characters and skins. The Mortal Kombat X character select screen is one of the best in-game presentations.
The character select screen in Mortal Kombat X features a lot of fancy graphics. It showcases new fighters and a few surprises. You’ll also see some slick lighting effects.
While the character select screen has a lot of fancy features, it also has its share of flaws. Some of the better animations are jarring. You’ll also notice that many characters have awkward attack animations. Also, the netcode is a bit jarring, even when playing against friends who live in the same town.
Brutalities
Brutalities in Mortal Kombat X are special attacks that players can use to finish a fight. Brutalities are similar to Fatalities in that they are designed to kill the opponent in a violent manner. They may be used as the final hit in a match, and they are triggered by specific events during the match. They will vary from character to character, but each character will have at least four Brutalities.
These moves are triggered by the DualShock Controller, and may also require input from your buttons. To perform a Brutality, you may need to hit your opponent several times. This is to ensure that you have a chance to finish the opponent before his health gauge disappears.
A Brutality is a combo finisher, and can be performed in the last round of a match. To perform a Brutality, players must complete certain requirements, which may include winning the first round, holding their block during the final attack animation, or having more than 50% health.
Stamina bar
During a match, a character’s stamina is limited. This meter can be used for stage moves, running and defense. It depletes when a character performs certain moves, such as dashes. In addition, it can be used to interact with the environment.
There are four stamina bars for each player. Two are used for offense, while two are used for defense. As the match progresses, each meter builds back up.
The most basic move requires one bar of stamina. A special move, like a Breaker, requires two bars of stamina. This allows a character to break an opponent’s combo string.
Dashing is a quick way to get to an opponent’s location. It is usually done by double tapping the controller. However, players can cancel a run.
Story mode
Unlike the last two games, which followed a cinematic storyline, Mortal Kombat X’s story mode is linear. It follows a single character, and there are no Quick-Time Events. However, the battles are simple, and easy to win. You can skip any battle you choose, and there are many options for skipping.
In addition to playing as the character you chose, you can unlock various costumes, stages, and Quick-Time Events. You can also earn achievements for completing the story mode. You can also unlock a trophy for There is a New Ruler on PlayStation 4. This trophy appears as an achievement on your Xbox One.
The story mode has 12 chapters, each one focusing on a different character. Players can play through the entire story with one character, or skip a few battles and focus on a different character. However, if you want to go through the entire story, you will have to complete it in five hours.
Kollector’s Edition
